Biannual Meeting

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Mayo Clinic hosted the Center for Computational Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CCBGM) biannual meeting, May 4-5, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, MN.

The meeting featured reports from two currently funded projects, From Analytics to Cognition: Taking Genomic and Other “Multi-Omic” Science to the Bedside (Ravi Iyer and Richard Weinshilboum); and Information-Compression Algorithms for Genomic Data Storage and Transfer (Olgica Milenkovic) and presentations from three potential projects: Micro-managing Sustainability: Managing the Plant and Soil Microbiome to Improve Plant Health and Ecosystem Sustainability, (Angela Kent); Improving the Accuracy of Genomic Variant Calling Through Deep Learning, (Deming Chen); and Scaling the Computation of Epistatic Interactions in GWAS Data, (Liudmila Mainzer).

Seventy-five people attended the day and a half meeting which included a conference dinner in the Library of the historic Plummer Building on the Mayo Campus.  Dates for the next meeting of the CCBGM have not be determined.
