Gene E. Robinson holds a University Swanlund Chair and is Director of the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) and Director of the Bee Research Facility. He serves on the NIH National Institute of Mental Health Advisory Council and is a fellow of the Entomological Society of America, the Animal Behavior Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
